"The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark" by Jill Tomlinson is an exciting story about a baby barn owl named Plop who was afraid of the dark. Plop was fat and fluffy and had enormous, round eyes. Ever since he was born, he was scared of the dark, so his mother asked him to ask other people and animals what they thought of the dark. In the story, a cat said that dark is beautiful; a small boy said that dark is exciting; a Boy Scout said that dark is fun, and a little girl said that dark is necessary. I recommend this book as it describes darkness from a different perspective in a positive light, telling us in what way dark is wonderful.
